THE EXECUTIVE
OUR PRESIDENT
Mary Elliott
Mary has been a hairstylist for 30 years. Twenty-four of these years she has been a hairstyling instructor in Swan River, Brandon and is currently with Winnipeg Technical College. Mary has been involved in hairstyling competitions, styling wigs for the Manitoba Opera, fashions shows, and the theatre and film part of the hair industry.
Duties of the President
The President presides over all business meetings of the Association, approves all minutes and co-signs all cheques issued by the Association. He/she provides overall direction in the on-going function of the Association.
OUR VICE-PRESIDENT
Crystal Kirby-Peloquin
Crystal is currently a hairstyling student at Winnipeg Technical College. She's passionate about hair and makeup and is looking forward to a career in the industry. She's excited to work with the Manitoba Hairstyling Association to create a strong community of stylists in the province.
Duties of the Vice-President
The Vice-President is to perform all the duties of the President in case of his/her absence. Should the office of the President become vacant the Vice-President shall assume the same power, rights and privileges as the President until a new President has been elected and installed.
OUR EDUCATIONAL DIRECTOR
Cheri Paizen
Cheri has been a hair stylist for 10 years and a nail technician for five. She is working towards her silver medal in the master judging program. Her newest endeavour is opening her own salon, Hair Ink, in Oakbank Manitoba.
Duties of the Educational Director
The Educational Director organizes, promotes and supervises workshops, competitions and seminars related to the profession.
OUR SOCIAL DIRECTOR
Gemma Elaine Bennett
Gemma is in the process of becoming a hairstylist. She is attending Winnipeg Technical College full time this year and is having a lot of fun with it. Before WTC Gemma was busy at home with her newborn son. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, her horse (which she once used to compete with) and her favorite time of year is when the snow falls!
Duties of the Social Director
The Social Director organizes and supervises social functions sponsored by the Association.
OUR SECRETARY/TREASURER BUSINESS AGENT
Angie Unger
Angie has been a nail technician at Angie Nail Care/John's the Hair Designers for the past 23 years. She has been the Business Agent for Manitoba Hairstylists' Association for 31 years and runs the day to day operations for the Association.
Duties of the Secretary/Treasurer and Business Agent
The Secretary/Treasurer keeps a record of all transactions of the Association and handles all correspondence. He/she is responsible for all monies collected and the appropriate bank deposits. He/she shall maintain a record of all meetings and act as a recording officer. He/she shall be a co-signing authority on all cheques issued by the Association. He/she shall make a detailed report at each Executive Board Meeting and Annual General Meeting. He/she runs the day to day business of the Association.
PAST PRESIDENT
Frank Vinci
Frank is the owner/operator of Frank's Hair 2000. He has been a hairstylist for 42 years. Frank is a former platform artist and award winning stylist. He is currently the Chairman of the Provincial Trade Advisory Committee (PTAC) for the Hairstyling Trade with the Provincial Government Apprenticeship Division.
